Danced my ass off today. Also my feet, knees, butt, hips, elbows, shoulders, neck and spine. But I am proud to say that at age 50 I am able to keep up with other Zumbanistas half my age. And that hit of endorphin at 2 and a half hours was totally worth it. The ladies I met today were so welcoming and warm, what a great group to belong to. I felt very privileged to be in the same room with them and learn with them and from them. I have to say that playing a lot of XBox Kinect Dance Central and Just Dance made me more comfortable with mirroring than I have been. Saying "right" and going left because that's the way I'm facing has been a challenge for me, but today I learned to watch the group, because some of them know the way they are supposed to go and I follow THEM! Of course, it was easy today because the entire class was made up of instructors. I can still use those principles and get back on the correct foot. Using the Zumba formula keeps me from getting overwhelmed and knowing that I can go back to some basic steps if I get lost. Also the steps for a particular song are matched to the sections of the song, and all I have to memorize is A, B, C, D and sometimes E, and then re-arrange them to match verse and chorus. A, B, A, C, D, B, E, A, like that. Much easier than I had been making it. I tend to overthink things sometimes. Sometimes it is just dancing. Sometimes ya gotta sweat like a pig to look like a fox.
